Heartland, Kano Pillars knocked out of Federation Cup

The defending champions of the Federation Cup and the league champions were both defeated in Wednesday’s quarter finals

Defending Federation Cup champions Heartland were knocked out of the tournament by Akwa United in a quarter final match on Wednesday. The match ended 1-1 in regulation time but the back-to-back winners of the competition were edged out via penalties 5-4.

Nigeria Premier League defending champions Kano Pillars were also trounced 3-0 by Warri Wolves at the Kwara Sports Stadium in Ilorin.

Former African champions Enyimba picked a semi final ticket by defeating Nasarawa United 1-0 in Abeokuta.

The fourth team to pick a semi final ticket was Lobi Stars who defeated Akwa Starlets 2-1 in Enugu.
