The Naze Millionaires have stated that their ultimate ambition is to win the cup competition for keeps after emerging victorious in the last two editions
Heartland of Owerri have declared that they are targeting another successful march to the Federation Cup final where they hope to get a third straight win and have the cup for keeps.
The Naze Millionaires have triumphed twice in the Federation Cup in the last two years after successive victories over Enyimba and Lobi in 2011 and 2012. Now the Owerri side have asserted that they are not done with the competition just yet.
Making this view known to Goal, a consultant to Heartland and former national team coach Christian Chukwu has revealed that the club's motivation this year is to win the Federation Cup for keeps.
"We are the defending champions and equally the team to beat in this year's edition. We are never carried away. We are going to be taking our matches as they come. Our focus is to win the competition for a third straight year running and thus have the cup for keeps,” said Chukwu.
"We are not arrogant about our demands. It is our personal ambition and we shall work towards it. Sharks are another club we must beat towards our victory party once more," he concluded.
Heartland have won the cup competition three times with their first in 1988 after a 3-0 rout of Flash Flamingoes in the final. They won the last two editions of the competition as the finals were held in Lagos.
