Nigeria Player of the Week
Peter Utaka
AGE 29
PLAYS FOR Dalian Aerbin
Liaoning Whowin 2-0 Dalian Aerbin
3-4 Dalian Aerbin

Peter Utaka, the younger brother of John Utaka, scored four goals in one match in a Chinese Super League match between his club, Dalian Aerbin and Guangzhou. His fourth goal which was the winning goal was scored in the fourth minute of added time.

After 15 rounds of matches in the CSL, Utaka has notched seven. And as the European transfer window opened, there could not have been a better way to put himself in the shop window than plundering four goals in a match. Even the great Didier Drogba did not achieve that feat in his sojourn in China.

Congratulations to Peter Utakai,'s Nigeria Player of the Week winner!

The Shortlist

Olanrewaju Kayode - Nigeria U-20

A striker very much maligned in the press but his two goals at the Fifa U-20 World Cup in Turkey showed a man keen to prove naysayers wrong. His header against South Korea was out of the football manual and his rocket against Uruguay on Tuesday was the stuff of dreams which will help him as he searches for a European club for next season.

Emmanuel Emenike - Spartak Moscow

After being out with injury for so long, the Nigerian hit-man is back on his feet and on the pitch. He played 45 minutes in a friendly match against Shakhtar Donetsk last weekend though he did not score.

Michael Babatunde - Metallurg Donetsk

The newly capped Super Eagles player has signed a deal with Ukrainian side, Metalurg for the next three seasons. The left-sided forward played at the last Confederations Cup where he came on for Nnamdi Oduamadi in the match against Uruguay.
