The Lobi Stars goalkeeper and Warri Wolves coach have won last month's edition of League Bloggers Award for their good performance for their clubs
In the players' category for June, Melai was nominated alongside Oghenekaro Etebo (Warri Wolves), Dele Olorundare (Sunshine Stars), Raphael Boumsong (El-Kanemi Warriors), John Uche (Kaduna United) and Adamu Yahaya (Kwara United).
Melai was instrumental in Lobi's impressive run in June that saw them go unbeaten and even earn a point off champions, Kano Pillars, on the road.
The Lobi Stars custodian kept a clean sheet in the games against Dolphins and Wikki Tourists and also stopped a last-gasp spot kick from Kano Pillars playmaker, Rabiu Ali.
Melai did not prove to be just a shot-stopper in June as he calmly scored the winner against Dolphins in Katsina-Ala from the spot after Chimaobi Nwaogu had missed an initial penalty.
Though the trio of Etebo, Yahaya and Boumsong netted three goals each and Olorundare scored five, Melai put in a massive shift to help Lobi Stars finish in the top three in the last four rounds of matches in June.
The Lobi Stars man becomes the second goalkeeper after Theophilus Afelokhai of Kano Pillars to win the LBA Player gong for the month.
For the second time this season, Ogbeide emerged the LBA Manager of the month after winning it in April this year.
Ogbeide guided Wolves to a winning run of three games against 3SC, ABS and Sunshine Stars to win the June edition with one game less.
Mohammed Baba Gabaru (Kano Pillars) and Dominic Iorfa (Lobi Stars) were the closest contenders for the manager's award for June after their teams went unbeaten but finished a point short of Wolves.
The LBA has been in the forefront of recognising players and managers for their on-pitch contribution in the Nigeria Premier League since 2009.
