In a week where there was no league match, the Player of the week will be made up of Super Eagles players at the Confederations Cup.

Mikel Obi stood head and shoulders above his team mates in their last two matches – against Uruguay and Spain while scoring a sumptuous goal against Uruguay. The Chelsea midfielder passed, moved, dribbled like we had forgotten he could. With this new Mikel, the national team will be best served in the years to come.

The Chelsea man, who just signed a new five year contract last December will be best served playing in a team that will allow his offensive trait to fluorish.

Congratulations to Mikel Obi, Goal.com's Nigeria Player of the Week winner!

The Shortlist

Vincent Enyeama - Lille/Nigeria

The Super Eagles number one pulled off so many saves against Spain that he ought to have been named the Man of the Match. The Lille goalkeeper has further enhanced his reputation as a credible shot stopper and should be able to move to a club where he will command a starting shirt.

Abdul-Jeleel Ajagun - Dolphins FC/Nigeria U20

With the Flying Eagles down 2-0 against Portugal, the Nigeria U20 skipper took it upon himself to try and redeem the country's image which he partially did by scoring two goals to bring his team back into the game though they finally lost 3-2.

Godfrey Oboabona - Sunshine Stars/Nigeria

The Sunshine Stars dfender has grown in leaps and bounds and holds the distinction for having played every minute of every game of the Super Eagles in 2013. He showed that he can mix it with the best and that showing would have boosted his credentials with the scouts that came to Brazil.

Olanrewaju Kayode - Nigeria U20

The much maligned attacker scored the only goal that helped the Flying Eagles beat South Korea and qualify for the last 16 at the 2013 Fifa U-21 World Cup that is taking place in Turkey
