Moses and Mikel help Chelsea back to third in race for top four finish

The two Nigerian players played a part for Chelsea on Wednesday in their London derby win over Fulham

Victor Moses started for the Blues while Mikel Obi came on in the latter stages of the match as Chelsea won 3-0 over Fulham at Craven Cottage on Wednesday to move back to third on the league table.

Victor Moses was back in the starting line-up as Rafael Benitez rotated his squad again and the winger played all 90 minutes. Moses has now played 35 times for Chelsea this season scoring eight goals.

The Nigerian’s shot on 32 minutes was high and wide but he had a hand in the third Chelsea goal.

On a counter in the 71st' minute, Moses attempted a right footed curler from outside the box that was pushed for a corner kick by Mark Schwarzer but from the resultant corner kick, Terry headed in to make it 3-0.

He completed 69% of his passes successfully from 58 touches on the ball and won all his aerial duels.

Mikel Obi joined the fray in the 76th minute to replace Ramires and had 14 touches on the ball in the 14 minutes he was on the pitch and committed one foul. He also had 90% pass accuracy and won all his aerial duels. It was Mikel’s 37th match in a season that has seen the European champions playing 60 matches already.

Chelsea had not won in their last five away encounters in the Premiership but goals from David Luiz and two from returnee captain, John Terry ensured all three points to take them one point above Arsenal with a game in hand.

Chelsea are next at Anfield on Sunday to face Liverpool as the season winds down.
