thumbnail Hello,

The Nigerian midfielder came on from the bench to rescue a point for his team against Sevilla on Friday

Nosa Igiebor rose from the Real Betis bench in the 81st minute and scored with a powerful header in the 89th minute to make scores 3-3 and in the process rescued his team against Sevilla on Friday at the Estadio Benito Villamarín.

The Nigerian international who returned very late to his team after representing Nigeria at the Nations Cup due to a hitch with the Spanish Embassy had played his second 90 minutes for Betis last weekend when they travelled to Granada and came back with a 5-1 win.

Sevilla had beaten Betis 5-1 in the reverse fixture and the Betis fans were baying for blood and revenge against their neighbours but Sevilla scored thrice in the first 32 minutes to suggest that the tie would end as the first one ended but Betis, who are sixth on the league table fought back to get a credible draw.

Igiebor came on for Paulao and seven minutes later, his powerful downward header beat Beto all hands up. In the eight minutes he had on the pitch, Igiebor had 15 touches with 92% pass accuracy.

The Nigerian midfielder has now played a total of 399 minutes comprising 13 matches with two yellow cards. Igiebor arrived in  Betis last August in a €1.1 million transfer from Hapoel Tel Aviv.
