thumbnail Hello,

The Nigeria international believes his manager is the main reason that Everton are still in the hunt for a top four finish in the Premier League

Nigeria striker Victor Anichebe has admitted to the fact that his manager, David Moyes is a ‘perfectionist’ as Everton hope to play themselves into the top four in the last seven matches of the campaign.

Anichebe has variously had run-ins with his manager but he is enjoying the best spell of his Everton career in the current season having played 19 matches and scored five goals.

Anichebe almost got the winner last Sunday against Tottenham at White Hart Lane but for the brilliant stop from Hugo Lloris.

“It's easy for us to get up for every game. That's the way the manager is,” Anichebe told his club’s official website.

“Sometimes he's a nightmare but he's right - every single game is important.

“When I say he's a nightmare I just mean he's so demanding. He's always on you, every single day. That just shows the kind of character he is. He wants to be the best. Hopefully we can fulfil that.

Everton have a mountain to climb if they are to claim a Uefa Champions League berth as they face Chelsea and Liverpool in their run in.

“We need to aim as high as we can,” the 2008 Olympic silver medallist added.

“We just need to keep plugging away, win as many games as we can, and we'll be in and around it. We're not far off now. There's definitely a chance.

“We were disappointed we didn't win. It was a really good performance against Spurs. It says a lot about our desire because we're missing two big players.

“Whoever comes in does well - and that just shows what the manager has instilled in us. When you get your chance, you have to take it,” Anichebe concluded.
