Lobi Stars Football Club emerging star central defender, Stephen Eze has vowed to lead his team to victory away to Liga Muçulmana of Mozambique in the Caf Confederation Cup second leg match this weekend.
Eze who has been a strong pillar in defence of the team since he was drafted to the team by the Vice-Chairman cum Technical Adviser of the team Dominic Iorfa at the beginning of the season expressed confidence in the ability of his team to weather the storm in Maputo and sail through to the group stage of the competition.
Eze scored the third goal against Liga Muçulmana of Mozambique in his club’s 3-1 victory in the first leg played at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium in Bauchi.
“Playing for Lobi Stars is a life time opportunity for me because I have been crying for this opportunity for some time now. I thank God that our (Vice) Chairman find me worthy to be in the team having promoted me from the feeder team to the senior team.
“For the CAF Confederation Cup match against Liga Muçulmana of Mozambique in Maputo on Friday, I believe that with the calibre of players that we have in the team we are surely going to win the match,” Eze told Goal.com at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Airport, Abuja before the team’s departure for the continental match.
He also voiced it loud and clear that he is a good choice for the U20 World Cup bound Flying Eagles of Nigeria. He vowed to stabilize the defence of the team if given the opportunity by the handler John Obuh.
“I always believe that I am the best player in any wing and any team I play and anywhere I am. That is the belief that I have in myself. If they invite me to the national team I will go and do my best there. I can save the team in the World Cup if the opportunity is given to me to play.
“With all humility I have watched all the matches of the Flying Eagles at the Africa Youth Championship in Algeria and I think I have a place in that team. The coach will be very happy with my contribution to the team if he allows me to have a trial with the team.
“He should just play me in one or two friendly matches to see what I can do for the team. I fear no foe I will play to the best of my ability,” he said.
