Victor Moses still in the frame for a first Chelsea trophy

The Nigerian duo was involved as Chelsea beat Manchester United 1-0 to set up a Wembley date with Manchester City

Chelsea are into the semi-final of the FA Cup and they did it with the help of their two Nigerians – Mikel Obi and Victor Moses on Easter Monday at Stamford Bridge.

Mikel started and played all 90 minutes while Moses came on as a late substitute for Oscar in the 91st minute. Moses transferred from Wigan at the beginning of the season and the FA Cup represents the avenue to get his first Chelsea trophy as the Blues have won the competition four times in the last six years.

Moses scored in the earlier two rounds of the Cup - against Middlesbrough and Southampton, and he will be hoping for more minutes when Chelsea face City on April 14 at Wembley.

Mikel had a shot on target blocked in the first half while Moses should have taken a shot in the 92nd minute after driving into United’s box. Chelsea are still fighting on two fronts now – the Uefa Europa League and the FA Cup and not to forget that they have to finish in the top four in the Premiership.

They face Rubin Kazan in the first leg of the Europa League on Thursday at Stamford Bridge.

In Russia, Ahmed Musa could not add to his nine league goals and was replaced by the returning Ivorian striker, Serge Doumbia in the 74th minute, for whom he had been deputising. Doumbia who just returned from a long-term injury then went on to score in added time to give CSKA a 4-0 win over Alaniya.

The league leaders are now eight points ahead of Zenit, who have 44 points with eight games left in the season
