ABS 2-3 KANO PILLARS
Pillars continued from where they left it at home last Thursday with another important away win at modest club ABS at the Kwara State International Stadium, Ilorin. They ran away 3-2 winners to retain their position at the top of the table.
The reigning league champions raced into a two goal lead through Gambo Mohammed and Nafiu Ibrahim in the 8th and 45th minutes before ABS reduced the arrears through Ichull Lordson in the 71st minute to raise the hope of the Ilorin fans who thronged the stadium expecting a routine home win.
Pillars however killed off whatever dream left of ABS to pull a sensational comeback when Ex-Heartland striker, Bello Musa Kofarmata netted the third two minutes from regulation time.
Lordson, the ABS ace, didn't surrender it all that way as he converted a 90th minute penalty for his second goal of the day and his third goal of the season. It will interest all that Lordson, ABS’ new recruit at the start of the season has scored all of his club's goals after five games.
SHARKS 0-0 DOLPHINS
It was a local derby involving two clubs that are sponsored by the Rivers' State government and the game was key for both clubs for different reasons.
The Blue Angels were the home side for the tie fixed at the Sharks Stadium, Port Harcourt but just like it was for the past three seasons, it was another drab game which left the fans that came to the stadium wondering if it was a league game. It ended goalless and the struggling run of both clubs since the league season began continues in style.
3SC 3-2 WIKKI TOURISTS
3SC were back to winning ways after they lost in Kano to Pillars with an important narrow triumph over Wikki Tourists on Sunday evening.
Azeez Shobowale shot the Oluyole Warriors ahead in the 18th minute before Gbolahan Salami who passed a late fitness test, doubled the advantage from the penalty spot in the 26th minute.
Moses Ogaga's clinical finish in the 59th minute for 3SC third goal definitely made the team supporters think that the Ibadan based club would score as many goals as possible but they were wrong. Wikki Tourists came back strongly and were almost stealing a point off 3SC after Victor Alegbe 59 and Alaba Johnson's goals in the 59th and 85th minutes for the Bauchi side.
3SC thus have 9 points from 5 games but must work on their away form if they are to get something out of the season.
HEARTLAND 4-0 GOMBE UNITED
The Naze Millionaires have scored 8 goals from their last two home league ties after thrashing the Desert Scorpions 4-0 in Owerri.
Happy Okuoka netted a brace in the 4th and 24th minutes while Isah Akor in the 7th minute and Ikechukwu Ibenegbu in the 59th minute accounted for the last two goals to record an emphatic win.
Gombe United have thus far lost all their three away fixtures but managed to win their two home games against ABS and Sharks.
Heartland have 7 points from 5 games having lost twice, drawn once and won twice.
The impressive win will no doubt boost their ego ahead of their road trip to Gabon for the second leg of the first round of the CAF Confederation Cup this weekend.
ENUGU RANGERS 3-1 KWARA UNITED
The Flying Antelopes have started the season just like the way they commenced it last season after they added a 3-1 home win to their unbeaten start to the season at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu.
Adamu Mohammed scored his first league goal in a Rangers' shirt in the 7th minute to elicit a thunderous celebration from the players and officials of the club.
But the Afonja Warriors, who were striving to protect their unbeaten run, netted the leveller through Dare Ojo in the 60th minute.
The coach Samson Unuanel led side however ran out of steam in the last 10 minutes and Rangers capitalised on this to record two quick fire goals in the 85th and 90 minutes through Sunday Chinedu and Udoukpe Oghogho respectively.
The Flying Antelopes are now second on the log with 11 points from 5 games while Kwara United not only lost their unbeaten run, they also slid further on the table.
AKWA UNITED 3-0 BAYELSA UNITED
The Uyo based club have got maximum points from their three home fixtures against Dolphins, Pillars and now Bayelsa United which they walloped 3-0.
Mfon Udoh in the 25th minute, Usman Sharafa 45th minute and Ubong Ekpai in the 67th minute all converted chances that came their ways as Akwa United moved to 9 points from a possible 15 on the log.
NASARAWA UNITED 3-1 KADUNA UNITED
The Lafia based club are the surprise package of the season thus far among those clubs that got promotion to the elite division at the beginning of the season after the club scooped their 8th point of the season in their 3-1 home triumph over Kaduna United.
Nasarawa United have only been beaten once at Aba after five games and they showed their intention of making some statement on the pitch after they drew away at Warri Wolves last Thursday.
Malachi Ilo, Jackson Daniel and Ugochukwu Leonard were all on score sheet for Nasarawa United.
Enyimba 0-0 Warri Wolves
The Peoples Elephant made their fans to go back home angry after they couldn't score against 10 man Warri Wolves at Aba.
Ojo Mine who is a defender with Wolves got the marching orders in the 59th minute after his second bookable offence but his team mates held on stoutly for an important away point.
Warri Wolves have not lost since their game of the season which they were beaten 1-2 by Sharks of Port Harcourt but are yet to win a league fixture this season too after four of the five games had ended in draws.
The Aba Millionaires players lacked the cutting edge to penetrate through the rock solid Warri Wolves defence for the entire 90 minutes.
NEMBE CITY 2-1 ELKANEMI
The Victor Baribote led club have won another league fixture at home to halt their 3 match winless run.
Nembe City's goals were converted by Bina Tombiri and Ugochukwu Uche but it was after El Kanemi had earlier drew first blood through Babalo Haruna.
