Barely 48 hours after the resignation of Sharks of Port Harcourt's technical adviser, Austin Eguavoen over contractual dispute, the management of the Blue Angels is in advance talks with ex-Sunshine Stars' boss Gbenga Ogunbote over the vacant managerial position.
Eguavoen parted company with Sharks on Thursday after the management of the club couldn't hand him a documented contract but a top official of the team has revealed to Goal.com that Ogunbote looks poised to be anointed as Eguavoen's replacement if the ongoing discussion between both parties becomes successful.
Sharks top official who disclosed this information to the website revealed that the club's desire not to leave a vacuum necessitated the management's prompt action to start negotiation with another top coach in the land.
Ogunbote was a former coach of 3SC and Sunshine where he spent three seasons laden with impressive performances in the CAF inter-club competitions.
He led Sunshine to the semi finals of both the CAF Confederation Cup and the Champions League in 2011 and 2012 respectively and was very close to nicking the league crown for the Akure Gunners in 2010/2011 season before the club was beaten to it on the final day of the season.
The Ogun State born coach left Sunshine after their 2012 CAF Champions League semi final exit to eventual winners, Al Ahly of Egypt on mutual consent and has seen been on break from managerial duties.
