The Former Super Eagles goal keeper has warned the Flying Eagles to be careful of their Egyptian opponents when both sides meet in the semi finals of the AYC
As Nigeria U20 get set to take on Egypt’s U20 in one of the semi final clash at the African Youth Championship taking place in Algeria, former national team handler, Joe Erico has warned John Obuh's team not to be carried away with their recent victories over their North African foes coached by Rabie Yassin.
Speaking with Goal.com, the outspoken ex-international said Nigeria have always defeated the Young Pharaohs at this stage but was quick to caution on their style of play that could wreak havoc against the defending African champions.
‘‘The Egyptians hold a lot of the ball, they don’t run anyhow. What our boys need to do is mark them one on one. They should also be mindful of the man without the ball because they are more dangerous than the one even with the ball.
"That is their style of play and it is peculiar to North African football. They love to keep possession of the ball at all times. So, our boys must watch out for this. We also need to be cautious of their time wasting antics too,’’ he said.
Reacting on the chances of the Young Pharaohs who have remained undefeated in this tournament, the former Super Eagles goalkeeper believes the Flying Eagles will come out victorious.
"We have been defeating them and this one will not be an exception. Our boys need to improve in every department of the game and with this, victory is sure," Erico concluded.
