Oduamadi looks to the future with Nigeria after injury spell

The Varese of Italy midfielder has affirmed he was not thrilled at all after injury halted his debut appearance in Africa's soccer fiesta

Former junior international Nnamdi Oduamadi has expressed his regrets at missing out on a place in the Super Eagles team that emerged as African champions at the South Africa 2013 Africa Cup of Nations tournament.

Oduamadi had a nightmarish experience with injury in recent times as he had to stay out of football action for close to six months.

But the Ex-Under 23 talisman in an exclusive chat with Goal.com explained his unhappiness at not being in the Stephen Keshi team that won the AFCON title for the third time for Nigeria.

The Varese of Italy play-maker however said he has consoled himself with the fact that he has recovered from the various injuries he had in the past and looks forward to the World Cup qualifier against Kenya in Calabar on Saturday.

"I am done with injuries and it has become a thing of the past. I was not too happy looking at the team in South Africa and the feat they recorded by winning the AFCON even without lack of faith and belief in the team.

"It was not a pleasant feeling at all. But that has gone and replaced with what I have in store for the future. I am in the team now to contribute my part and I hope to make that real by doing my best for the interest of Nigeria," Oduamadi noted.
