Moses had 75% pass accuracy and won all his aerial duels from 42 touches. He had an attempt on goal in the 37th minute but his right-footed shot from the centre of the box missed the left upright by inches. He was replaced by Oscar in the 70th minute while Mikel came on for Juan Mata in the 86th minute. Both players are expected in Nigeria for the World Cup qualifying match against Kenya next Saturday.
Victor Anichebe started as the main striker for Everton in their 2-0 win over Manchester City on Saturday. The Toffees scored the first goal in the first half through Leon Osman and scored the second in second half added time to continue their fight for a top four finish.
Anichebe was substituted by Jelavic who scored the second goal. Anichebe had two attempts to score – a right-footed shot from the centre of the box in the 38th minute which went too high and a header in the 50th minute from a Leighton Baines cross. He had 64% pass accuracy from 32 touches and won 50% of his aerial duels.
Peter Odemwingie was left out of the West Brom squad that earned a 0-0 draw away to Stoke City. But he had something to say about being left out on Twitter which may not please the management team of the Baggies.
Simon Zenke scored his first goal on his return to the Süper Lig for Istanbul BB on Saturday. The former junior international scored the first goal in the eighth minute af their 4-2 win over Mersin İdmanyurdu, who have Raheem Lawal and Nduka Ozokwor in their ranks.
Zenke, who played with an injury, was replaced at the start of the second half by Omer Sokullu. The Nigerian striker has played seven times since his free transfer from Ligue 1 side, Nancy in January. He was formerly with Samsunspor.
Lawal started the game and played the entirety of the game while Ozokwor came on in the 74th minute.
Istanbul BB are 12th on the table while İdmanyurdu prop up the table with 21 points from 26 matches. They have just 10 games to save their season.
Kalu Uche and Kasimpasa continue to surprise many as they defeated Besiktas 3-1 away on Saturday to move within three points of their more illustrious opponents who sit third on the league table with 43 points.
Uche did not add to his 15 goals but provided two assists in the match - a cross for Djalma in the 32nd minute and a through pass for Colak to score the third goal in the 78th minute. Kasimpasa had more possession in the match.
Sivasspor and Michael Eneramo suffered their 12th league loss in the 2-1 away defeat to Akhisar Belediye on Sunday. It was Eneramo's 24th league appearance and he has scored seven times.Joseph Yobo played all 90 minutes for Fenerbahce as they triumphed 2-1 away to Antalyaspor, who had Isaac Promise in their team. Promise also played for 90 minutes in what was his 22nd game and he has scored seven times. Yobo, dropped for the match against Kenya, was playing his 16th game of the season.
Odion Ighalo played his 19th league match for Granada as they held Levante to a 1-1 draw on Sunday. Ighalo has scored three goals this season.
Nosa Igiebor played his first match after the Nations Cup when he came on for Benat in Real Betis' 3-0 away loss to Valencia on Saturday. Igiebor has played 10 times for his new team this season.
Ahmed Musa played his 20th league game for CSKA Moscow but could not add to his nine league goals.
CSKA Moscow beat Krasnodar on Sunday to go seven points clear of Anzhi. Alan Dzagoev scored the only goal of the match in the 17th minute to take all three points for the homers.
Obinna Nsofor was not listed by Locomotiv Moscow in their 0-0 draw away to Spartak Moscow, for whom Emmanuel Emenike is still out due to the thigh injury he sustained during the Nations Cup, for which he emerged as the highest goal scorer.
Dynamo Kiev beat Vorskla 1-0 on Sunday to move to second on the league table. Brown Ideye and Lukman Haruna started the match while Taye Taiwo returned but had to settle for a place on the substitutes' bench.
Ideye has not scored for his team since his return from the Nations Cup though he is still the team's highest goal scorer with 13 goals in 20 league matches. Haruna has scored twice in 10 league games and was replaced in the 66th minute by Niko Kranjcar.
Lucky Idahor was on the bench for all 90 minutes as Zorya thrashed Volyn 3-1. Idahor has played 19 times in the league and scored three goals.
Michael Odibe played for 46 minutes for Arsenal Kyiv in their 2-1 away loss to Illichivets on Sunday. Odibe got a yellow card in the 30th minute has featured twice for Arsenal Kyiv after his loan transfer from Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk.
Obafemi Martins made his Seattle Sounders debut but he did not score as his team drew 1-1 with Portland Timbers on Saturday.
He was expected to make his debut later but he flew to Seattle to meet the team and he is now expected in Nigeria to join up with the Super Eagles for their match against Kenya on Saturday.
"It was a little bit hard," Martins told mlssoccer.com.
"The president [Adrian Hanauer] really wanted me to stay in Madrid so I could go straight to the national team.
"But I decided to see the team and play as soon as possible,” he added.
He made 78% of his passes from 57 touches of the ball, committed three fouls and made three tackles. He was replaced in the 79th minute by Louis Saha.
