Goalkeeper coach Shorunmu tips Dele Ajiboye for Eagles success

The goalkeeper trainer has tipped the 3SC goalie for great things as he has impressed during training leading up to the game against Kenya

Shooting Stars Football Club first choice goalkeeper Dele Ajiboye has been given a clean bill of health in the Super Eagles after posting impressive performances in the training session of the team in Abuja.

The encomium was showered on the 3SC goalkeeper by no other person than goalkeeper coach Ike Shorunmu after assessing the player he invited to the team for the World Cup qualifying match against the Harambee Stars of Kenya slated for the UJ Esuene Stadium, Calabar on Saturday, March 23.

Shorunmu told Goal.com why he extended invitation to the former Golden Eaglets member that won the 2007 FIFA U- 17 World Cup in South Korea.

“I saw Dele Ajiboye in a couple of games in the Premier League and I think it will be very wrong for me not to invite him to the national team based on what I saw of him,” said Shorunmu.

“He did his best in the league last season. So what are you looking for in a player as a coach when you watched a player in league matches where he performed well so you have no option than to invite him to the national team to come and prove his worth there.

“So what I did was to give him a trial and see whether he can withstand the pressure of the national team. Honestly speaking in the training sessions we have done in the past two days now his performances have been encouraging and impressive,” concluded Shorunmu.
