The Peoples' Elephant trainer has said that it will take up to the fourth week before players in the League will start playing well after prolonged lay off
Yusuf told Goal.com in Enugu after leading the Aba side to a 1-0 loss at the hands of Rangers that the players have stayed out of competitive football for over six months and need some time to start playing well.
"It will certainly take up to four weeks for the players to begin to do well. You will remember that the Nigeria Premier League ended September 7th last year and none of these players have really played any competitive game," Yusuf said.
"That is why it mght be hard to get the best out of them at this period that the League just started. I don't blame them. It is not their fault that the League did not start when it was supposed to start.
"Training and just playing friendly matches is different from playing competitive games. The boys have trained for over four months without any match to test whether they are ready or not.
"But I believe that in the next three weeks, they will begin to get their acts together to give their fans what they want to see in every game. By the time we get to the fourth week in the season, you will realise what I am talking about.
"I am sure that we are going to enjoy what the players will exhibit when they have finally settled down," the former Taraba handler said.
Enyimba will host newly promoted Nasarawa United in their next game this weekend.
