Mikel hopes that Old Trafford revival will turn around Chelsea’s season

After a remarkable second half performance, the Nigerian midfielder hopes it will be the turning point to the season

After falling on almost all fronts before Sunday’s remarkable second half performance, Chelsea’s Mikel Obi hopes to use the 2-2 result in the FA Cup to create momentum for the rest of the season.

“I don’t know if we can get momentum for the rest of the season now - but I hope so,” Mikel told the Daily Mirror.

“This is a crucial time in the season and we have to start putting in good performances.

“We all remember what has happened in the past, when we have had turning point games and I hope this is another of them.

Chelsea were down 2-0 at half time and looking hopeless before a double change of Mikel and Eden Hazard swung the tie back in the London club’s favour.

“It did look grim at half-time but the character we showed in the second half is something we can keep going. We need to keep that momentum going.

“Sometimes it is quite difficult when the season is going like it is. Let’s hope that this is the performance that puts us back in a good plight and that we can keep going from here and end the season well,” he concluded.
