Nigeria Women’s League has suffered - NFF

The Nigeria Football Federation has vowed to fund the female league in the absence of sponsors

Nigeria Football Federation has called on all stakeholders of women football in the country to come together as a united front to save the game in the country.

This clarion called was made by Director of Competitions of the Nigeria Football Federation Dr. Sanusi Mohammed during the maiden edition of the Nigeria Women Football League Congress after election of members to the Board held at the Ideal Foundation Hotel, Abuja last week.

“Nigeria Women Football has suffered a lot of setbacks but as from today it’s going to be better days for the Women Football in the country. But there is a condition to it to be better and that is all stakeholders must stand as a united front to help it grow to the desired heights. They say United we stand, divided we fall. All of you in the Women Football League must support the Chairman, Nigeria Women League, Chief Mrs Dilichukwu Onyedinma.

The Director of Competitions in the NFF also disclosed that the football body has concluded plans to fund the Women’s league this time around even if sponsors have not come to identify with it. But he solicited for support from the stakeholders to rally round Onyedinma so that the result could be very positive and result oriented.

Onyedinma also urged corporate bodies and companies to identify with the Women Football league.

“We want to use this medium to call on corporate sponsors to embrace women football in Nigeria, especially the league, as we have all it takes to produce more world champions for the country.

“The league is faced with a lot of constraints, especially funding. We are optimistic that when the efforts being made by the League Board start yielding positive results, our clubs will smile. I sincerely thank NFF President Aminu Maigari for his unflinching support for the NWFL,” Onyedinma said.
