Sam had 93% pass accuracy and won all his aerial duels from 63 touches. He also successfully completed three dribbles. He was replaced by Arkadiusz Milik as the homers sought an equaliser which they got in the 82nd minute through Stefan Kiessling and the winner in the 86th minute through Lars Bender.
Sam was a threat all the time on the pitch and provided three crosses that should have led to goals. He also shot twice on target with efforts in the 31st and 61st minutes blocked. Sam has scored five goals in 13 league games.
Joseph Akpala came on for Aaron Hunt in the 69th minute in Werder Bremen's 1-0 loss to Augsburg which was their third straight defeat. Akpala has played sparingly and has just one goal in 18 league appearances.
