thumbnail Hello,

The Nigerian international has been ruled out of action for eight weeks on account of the injury he sustained during the Nations Cup semi-final win over Mali

The Super Eagles of Nigeria may be without their most potent attacking weapon in their 2014 Fifa World Cup qualifier against Kenya that is billed for Calabar on March 23.

Emenike, the Nations Cup highest goal scorer with four goals may be out for longer than expected on account of the thigh injury he sustained during the 4-1 win over Mali in South Africa though his club website is yet to confirm the duration for which he will be out of action.

He confirmed that he does not know for how he will be out of action. “I cannot say how long I will be out of action. I am just going to be examined,” Emenike told championat.com.

Emenike was thought to have been afflicted by a minor thigh injury as there were speculations that he could have made the final match at the Nations Cup but it now seems that he will be out for longer than initially thought of.

Emenike had also been linked with a move to the English Premier League to join Liverpool though that has been dismissed as mere rumours.

"It is paper talk at the moment, but a club like Liverpool makes people dream," Emenike told Sky Sports.

"Growing up in Africa, you hear about the Kop and you want to score goals at that end. It would be amazing, like winning the Africa Cup of Nations.

"I have always dreamed of playing in the Premier League and, if the opportunity arrives, I will be happy,” he added.

Emenike believes that he should be ready to help his club when the second phase of the league season commences on

“I look forward to the final segment of the Russian Championship, where I want be play not less than at the African Cup,” Emenike told championat.com.

Emenike is currently in Spain with his Russian club, Spartak Moscow, as they continue preparation for the second phase of the league for which they currently lie in sixth position.

They have 32 points from 19 matches, 11 points off Ahmed Musa’s CSKA Moscow and Emenike has scored five goals in 15 league matches. League matches will resume on Sunday, March 10 and Spartak will host Terek Grozny.
