Enyimba FC, former Nigeria Premier League (NPL) champions have returned to Aba after spending three weeks at the Temperance Hotel Camp at Otta, Ogun State, where they put finishing touches to their preparation for the 2013 league season which is expected to kick-off on February 16.
The Peoples Elephant rounded off their stay in Otta with a 1-0 win over Ebiede FC of Lagos with the only goal converted by new signing, Michael Okoyoh who was signed from Warri Wolves.
Speaking on the trip to Otta, the team's Technical Adviser, Salisu Yusuf told Goal.com that it was important for the players to train and bond together under an atmosphere devoid of distractions and it was among the reasons the management of the club sanctioned the suggestion again after the other exercise had late last year was truncated midway.
Coach Yusuf, who was one of the Assistant Coaches to Samson Siasia, said he now has players to pick for commendable results when the league commences.
"We have rounded off our training exercises at Otta and we will hit Aba later in the day (Thursday). We have watched our players and have viewed them at match situations. We have knowledge of what they can do."When the league season starts, we can confidently say that we have prepared adequately for the season and that we are expecting good results," Yusuf informed Goal.com.
Enyimba will play their final match before the league season kick off on Sunday against 2010/2011 NPL kings, Dolphins at the Enyimba International Stadium,Aba.
The Peoples Elephant last won the league in 2010 and along with Oriental Side Enugu Rangers hold the record for the most wins in the Nigeria Premier League with six titles each.
Enyimba's victories in the NPL were recorded in 2001, 2002, 2003, 2005, 2007 and 2010 but the club has experienced a cup drought since the last feat about three years ago.
