The Interim Management Committee of the Nigeria Premier League has successfully waded into the sponsorship logjam and the League will start with a new sponsorFormer title rights sponsor of the Nigeria Premier League, Globacom look set to return as the new firm in charge of the League after the problems associated with the sponsorship were amicably settled on Thursday evening in Abuja.
The Interim Management Committee of the Nigeria Premier League met with the stakeholders and decided that the issues must be addressed before the start of the league so that the new season takes off in February.
They resolved after the meeting that: "All parties have agreed to withdraw all pending matters in court associated with the title sponsorship of the Premier League.
"Total Promotions Limited has also agreed to withdraw their claims to the right of the title sponsorship of the Premier League.
"Globacom being the preferred bidder has accepted to take up the title sponsorship rights. Consequently, Globacom will now become the official title rights sponsor of the league on the same terms agreed during the last bidding exercise."
A formal contract will be signed with Globacom before the commencement of the League.
In the last two seasons, the NPL has operated wiithout a title sponsor.
