Heartland FC are one million naira richer after winning the Kano pre-season tournament which ended on Saturday in the pyramid city.
The Naze Millionaires triumphed 2-0 against fellow Caf Confederation Cup rivals, Lobi Stars in a match decided at the Sani Abacha Stadium.
Heartland's youngster Emeka Ogbugh sealed the Kano pre season tournament title for the Naze Millionaires with a strike outside the 18 yard box in the 90 minute in their 2-0 victory over Lobi Stars.
Substitute, John Owoeri had earlier come off the bench to register the curtain raiser for Heartland in the 70 minute before Ogbugh signed from Owerri based Campos Fc last year put the icing on the cake for the revered Naze Millionaires to halt the resistance of the Makurdi based side.
It was Heartland's second win over their fellow CAF Confederation Cup campaigners in the spate of five months having pipped same side 2-1 to the 2012 Federation Cup title last August in Lagos.
Heartland thus lifted the pre season tourney with a total of 7 points from 3 matches and a million naira ($6,400jackpot for the winner while the result left the last tie of the competition with barely a match to decide second spot rather than the ultimate.
In the second match played at the same Sani Abacha Stadium, Kano Pillars kept their image intact after defeating fellow CAF Champions League side, Enugu Rangers 2-0.
Goals from Pillars' Nasiru Ali and Samuel Tswanya confined the Flying Antelopes to their second loss of the pre season tournament and to the bottom of the table in the four team log with a solitary point.
Pillars claimed second spot and a reward of N750,000 Lobi N500,000 for coming third and Rangers are N250,000 richer despite prodding the table.
