Henry Uche begs Enyimba for release to join Asteras

Henry Uche begs Enyimba for release to join Asteras

The national team player has asked the Peoples Elephant to let him go abroad to further his trade even as he is out of contract with the Aba Millionaires

Super Eagles midfielder Henry Uche has sent a passionate plea to his employers Enyimba Football Club to release him to join Asteras Tripolis, a first division club in Greece.

Smarting from his return from the Faro camp of the Super Eagles where he was dropped from the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations squad, Uche expressed disappointment in the Aba-based club that he claimed owes him 8 million naira since 2009.

“I want to beg Enyimba to please for God’s sake release me to join my new club Asteras Tripolis in Greece. The problem now is that Asteras has given the ultimatum of a week to join them and also produce my Transfer Certificate and contract papers with Enyimba or they will cancel the contract.

“I don’t want to lose this chance of playing for a notable and recognized club in Greece which I believe will help a lot in my football career. I have already made up my mind on the matter to join the Greek club but Enyimba have refused to release me,” the former 3SC player told Goal.com.

“I am ready to forfeit the N8 million they owe me for the past four years since 2009 in return for my release, and just let me go. I have contributed my quota to the progress of the club so far. So I don’t see any reason for them to bar my progress. I want to play in Europe like the rest of my colleagues there,” the attacking midfielder lamented.

It was however discovered that Enyimba wants to capitalize on the growing status of the player to recoup a large sum of money through transfer of the player. But the player is currently out of contract with the club, a reason why he is demanding for his release papers from the Peoples Elephant.

The player who came back on Monday after he was dropped from the Super Eagles bound AFCON said no ill feelings about being dropped from the team.

“Firstly I will like to express my appreciation to the Chief Coach (Stephen Keshi) for giving me the chance to exhibit my football talent in the team. I would also say that I am not sad at all that I was dropped from the Super Eagles because I believe I will go back home and work very hard to be ready for the 2014 qualifying matches. I don’t regret being dropped from the team because I was ranked among the best 32 players in the country by making it to Faro, Portugal camp.

“Nigeria is blessed with so many talented and capable players and I am confident of getting my own chance soonest and when it comes I will grab it with both arms. I sincerely wish the team best of luck and I have the confident that they would bring the Cup back to Nigeria. ”, Henry expressed full optimisms.

He also praised the Nigeria Premier League for producing six home based players in the Super Eagles 23 Man squad to the Africa Cup of Nations that would commence in South Africa on Saturday.

“For six Nigeria Premier League players to make the final 23 of the Super Eagles to the AFCON speaks volume of the Nigerian league. It means our league is progressing rapidly. It also sends signals to the other players from the home front that we have the opportunity of making it to the senior national team if we can just work very hard and prove ourselves in our various clubs.
