Heartland of Owerri, back to back Federation Cup champions have predicted another difficult duel against Enugu Rangers on Thursday in the Kano pre-season tournament after a close battle against Kano Pillars on Wednesday.
The club's midfield maestro, Bartholomew Ibenegbu said that the Naze Millionaires were fortunate to escape with all points against Pillars but will come all out against Enugu Rangers to show that their result against the hosts was no fluke.
Speaking with Goal.com shortly after their 1-0 win over hosts, Pillars, Heartland's midfielder, Barthlomew Ibenegbu said they won a very tough game stating that Pillars gave them a good fight but they were fortunate to triumph in the dying minute of the encounter.
Ibenegbu who is popularly called Mosquito by his admirers expressed Heartland's resolve to defeat Rangers this afternoon and brighten their chances of winning the Super 4.
"We thank God we won against Pillars who are the hosts. It was a very tough match. They played their hearts out and we were fortunate to carry the day.
"We have another match against Rangers and we know it will be another interesting encounter based on the fact that they lost their first match. We will not relent because we have a purpose of coming to Kano and we must realise our target," Ibenegbu explained to Goal.com.
Besides Heartland versus Rangers encounter billed for the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano by 1pm on Thursday, there is a second game between Pillars and Lobi Stars which will commence at 3pm.
The round robin tourney ends on Sunday and the team with the highest number of points will be declared the winner.
The tournament was packaged by the NPL to give all the teams representing the country in Africa a good platform to test run their players and assess their level of preparation for the CAF inter-club competitions which kicks off in February.
