Eagles travel to Spain for their friendly match against Catalonia

Nigeria’s national team will travel to Spain to face Catalonia hoping to avenge the 5-0 loss of 1998
The Super Eagles led by Coach Stephen Keshi have travelled to Spain to face a Barcelona-loaded Catalonia side in their first friendly match of 2013 as the team prepares for the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations Cup that will kick-off in South Africa on January 19.

But both Nosa Igiebor and Rabiu Ibrahim, who should have been part of the travelling party from Faro, are now expected to meet up with the team in Spain. Ikechukwu Uche is also expected in camp for the match.

On Igiebor, officials say that they have no word from the Real Betis midfielder on when he will exactly join the team.

“We are still waiting words from Nosa at the moment, so we cannot say he will be in Catalunya or Faro for the game,” Dayo Enebi, the team’s secretary said.

The team’s schedule includes a training session on New Year’s Day at about 7:15pm (8:15pm Nigerian time).

The match to be played on Wednesday at Estadi Cornellà El Prat will be the second game between the two teams. The Super Eagles were walloped 5-0 in 1998 and this match will be the last to be handled by Dutch legend Johan Cruyff.

The time of the game is 8:00pm Catalunya time, which is 9:00pm Nigerian time.
