The former Sunshine Stars forward has disclosed that he is joining the Peoples Elephant because he is desperate to win laurels
Akombo who was part of the Sunshine Stars team that got to the semi finals of the Caf Champions League told Goal.com that joining Enyimba marks another chapter in his career as a footballer.
"So many clubs were desperate to sign me for next season, but I decided to join Enyimba because this is one club that is always ready to win trophies.
"I joined the Aba side because I need to start winning trophies. I may not have too many years to play football again, but I need to get some medals and Enyimba will sure give me that.
"From what I have seen since I joined them, I think they are serious about returning to pinnacle of Nigerian Football.
"I am ready to contribute my quota to make Enyimba return to its glory days. It will not be easy, but everybody is working hard for us to achieve our set target.
"I have seen the caliber of players in the team and it gives me great motivation to do my best when the new season starts February 16th.
"I am optimistic that Enyimba will rank among the best clubs in the Nigeria Premier League next season," said Akombo.
Enyimba finished fourth on the league table with 54 points last season.
