Nigeria Premier League Acting Executive Secretary, Tunji Babalola has revealed that the League organising body will be ready for the start of a new season in January.
The Nigeria Football Federation after its Annual General Assembly directed that the Nigeria Premier League should start in January. The clubs after its congress in Abuja had said the League will begin in February.
Babalola has told Goal.com that everything will be put in place for a good season.
"I want to assure all clubs and Nigerians that we will be ready for the new season in January. I don't see anything disturbing us from starting in January because we are going to work hard between now and the end of the year to set the machinery in motion for a smooth start of the new season.
"You know that majority of the clubs are prepared for the League. They have been preparing since November and have also recruited their players for the coming season.
"All they need to do is to come and do the registration of the players. The January date is ideal because it will not make us rush to conclude the season.
"Our clubs in the continent will also play some competitive games in the League before they start playing in the continent from February.
"With careful planning and taking into consideration the dates for continental competitions, we can make next season, the best ever.
"I am confident that the new dispensation will usher a new dawn for the Nigeria Premier League," Babalola said.
Kano Pillars are the defending champions of the League.
