NFF directs league to start before Africa Cup of Nations in January

The football body has ordered that the Nigeria Premier League should start the new season in next month

The Nigeria Football Federation has directed the Nigeria Premier League to immediately set in motion modalities to start the new season in January before the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.

The Football house noted that it is proper the League starts in January so that there will not be any rush later in the year to conclude the season and also for the clubs in the continent to be ready for the Champions League and Confederation Cup by playing competitive games in the League.

The clubs after their congress on Tuesday said the League will start February 16th, but the NFF has now decided that the football season should start in January so as not to cause any problem later in the year.
