Kenneth Omeruo will not train with parent club, Chelsea of England this winter break after the Nigerian received a call up to the Super Eagles preparatory to the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.

Before the latest development, Omeruo was expected to hit England as soon as his British visa application was granted. But the invitation from the Eagles' coach, Stephen Keshi has altered proceedings with the Nigerian fancying a trip to Faro, Portugal to fight for the Afcon jersey instead of going to the Stamford Bridge for mere training sessions.

A source close to the player and based in Holland told Goal.com that Omeruo has set his sights on the journey to Portugal where he has all the conviction and self-belief that he could nick a surprise spot in next month’s Africa Cup of Nations bound Eagles.

The source said that Omeruo spoke glowingly of his invitation after the visa hitch which scuttled his full debut against Venezuela in the United States last month and has fixed his programme to accommodate an early arrival in Faro, Portugal.

The Imo-born former junior international was signed by Chelsea from Belgian Standard Liege last year and was immediately loaned to ADO Den Haag of Holland to gain first team experience and maturity which is to equip him for the demands of the English Premier League.
