Sharks midfielder Jonah Abutu has boasted that the Port Harcourt team will surely be a contender for the Nigeria Premier League trophy next season.
The Nigeria Premier League has fixed February 16as the date for the start of the new season.
Abutu who was part of the Lobi Stars team that finished third on the NPL League table and also played in the finals of the Federation Cup last season noted that the team is ready for everything that will come their way next season.
"After the pre-season camping exercise, I told myself that Sharks will strongly challenge for the league title in the coming season," said Abutu.
"We had a good time in Calabar where the technical crew did a nice work blending the old and new players.
"And from what I saw in Calabar, we have a good team that is not ready to compromise any position apart from the League trophy.
"We also have a sound coaching crew led by Augustine Eguavoen and they have been working tirelessly to ensure that we are fully prepared for the new season.
"And I must confess that the Rivers State Government is committed to making sure Sharks regains its pride of place in Nigerian football.
"We can't wait for the new season to start," Abutu said.
