The Dynamo Kiev striker is not taking any time off as he looks ahead to the Africa Cup of Nations Cup that starts in January after winning two important accolades
With the Ukrainian football season on a winter break till March 2013, Dynamo Kiev’s leading goal scorer for the season, Brown Ideye was named as the best player for the months of November and December by Sports Express in the Ukraine.
The Nigerian striker has been in top form this season – with 13 goals already in the league from 17 matches and a further four goals in the Champions League.
Ideye also scored for the Super Eagles in last month’s 3-1 win over Venezuela and gave a good performance which has necessitated analysts imputing his name as one of the likely 23 that will be named by Coach Stephen Keshi.
After being told of the accolade, he was asked to assess his own performance over the period in review in which he scored five goals in November.
“As a rule, I try not to give myself assessments - this is for the fans and you journalists,” said Ideye to sport-express.ua.
“I think my games with Arsenal and Zaporozhye Metallurg helped Dynamo to achieve some success, but this is for me the most important thing. Be the best - my work,” he added.
He is planning to keep fit for the tasks ahead as he hopes to be named in the Super Eagles squad that has expectations of a third triumph at Afcon 2013 that starts in South Africa in January.
“Honestly, I do not plan to rest. I need to keep fit and extra breaks I do not need,” the 24-year old concluded.
