The congress of the Nigeria Premier League has said that the new season will commence in the second month of the new year after the Africa Cup of Nations
In a communique after its 7th Congress in Abuja on Tuesday, the League body noted that the new date is however subject to confirmation by the Nigeria Football Federation.
Spokesman of the 19 clubs that attended the Congress, Alloy Chukwuemeka told Goal.com that the date is reasonable because it will afford all the clubs to finish the registration of players, clear their new players and also conclude other logistics for the start of the new season.
"I am sure the clubs will be ready for the new season. They have at least a month and half to tidy up every neccessary arrangement for the commencement of the season," Chukwuemeka said.
Kano Pillars emerged Champions of the NPL last season.
