The board of the league says it needs to conclude investigations before the congress will come upNigeria Premier League board has decided to cancel the congress which had been fixed for Tuesday after their meeting late Monday evening in Abuja.
The board in their communique read by Joe Amene noted that since they have set up a committee to look into the NPL crisis, the congress is cancelled until after investigations.
The chairman of the committee is NFF board member, Leye Adepoju, while Kasali Obanonyen and Ade Ojeikere are also members.
He also revealed that the NPL Chairman, Victor Baribote has stepped down until after the three weeks that the committee will conduct their investigation.
Vice Chairman, Alhaji Shehu Gusau will act as chair until after the investigation into the crisis.
But in a swift reaction, the clubs revealed that the congress will still go ahead on Tuesday. General manager of ABS, Alloy Chukwuemeka said the board cannot truncate the move to have the congress on Tuesday.
"We are going ahead with the congress. The Nigeria Football Federation has ordered that we must hold our congress and that is what will happen on Tuesday from 10 a.m.
"If they like, let them investigate anything they want, the congress holds on Tuesday," Chukwumemeka said.
