The Nigerian strikers are helping their respective clubs up the league tables in Ukraine and Belgium

ENGLAND

Mikel Obi and Victor Moses started for Chelsea against London neighbours, West Ham on Saturday but Chelsea lost 3-1 for the first time after Roman Abramovich bought the club nine years ago.

Obi played all 90 minutes while Moses was substituted with Marko Marin in the 78th minute with the scores at 1-1.

Mosea had a hand in Chelsea's first goal under new coach, Rafa Benitez when his defence splitting pass in the 13th minute freed Fernando Torres down the right flank who in turn fed Juan Mata to score the first goal.

Obi got a yellow card in the 64th minute for complaining to the referee – Martin Atkinson on the way West Ham scored their equaliser through Carlton Cole.

West Brom lost for the second time at home this season on Saturday when they fell to Stoke City who scored through Dean Whitehead in the 75th minute. Peter Odemwingie started on the bench and was introduced in the 65th minute for Zoltan Gera.

In the 15 minutes he had on the pitch, he touched the ball 18 times and had a 90% pass completion ratio. The Nigerian has scored four goals in the league this season.

UKRAINE

Lukman Haruna and Brown Ideye scored a goal apiece to help Dynamo Kiev to a 4-2 win away against Hoverla Uzhhorod on Friday.

Haruna equalised for Dynamo in the 14th minute after Sotirios Balafas had put Hoverla ahead in the 12th minute. It was Haruna’s first goal for the club in 21 league appearances.

Ideye scored the second goal in the 18th minute to record his 13th goal of the season – one more than he recorded throughout last season in 27 games.

Haruna also added an assist in the 45th minute as Dynamo scored through Dudu.

The Nigerian midfielder was replaced by Ognjen Vukojevic in the 68th minute while Taye Taiwo also played in the encounter, lasting the whole 90 minutes with the fourth Nigerian in the team Yussuf Ayila not listed for the encounter.

Abayomi Owonikoko Seun played for 30 minutes in Volyn's 2-0 home loss to Chornomorets on Sunday while Lucky Idahor helped Zorya to a 1-0 away win over Arsenal Kyiv also on Sunday.

GERMANY

Leon Balogun continued his fine form for Fortuna Dusseldorf as his team beat Austin Okocha's former club, Eintracht Frankfurt 4-0 on Friday.

The 24-year old was shown a yellow card in the 62nd minute. The German-Nigerian won 100% of his aerial duels and made four successful tackles and he was replaced in the 74th minute by Du-Ri Cha. Fortuna Dusseldorf have now risen to 13th position with 18 points.

Sidney Sam was back on the bench for Bayer Leverkusen on Saturday as his team edged Nurnberg 1-0 to move into second position, eight points off leaders, Bayern Munich, who have 38 points.

Schalke 04 drew 1-1 with Borussia Monchengladbach on Saturday with Chinedu Obasi on the bench. The injury-stricken striker has played just thrice in the league this season and is yet to open his goals account.

TURKEY

Kalu Uche continued his brilliant form for Kasimpasa on Sunday as he helped his club to a 2-2 draw away to Eskişehirspor. Uche scored in the 72nd minute to bring scores to 1-1.

Burhan Eser scored for the hosts in the 79th minute to take the lead but Kasimpasa rescued a point through Adem Buyuk, who scored in the 84th minute. Uche has now scored eight goals in 14 league appearances - the highest by any Nigerian in the Süper Lig.

Michael Eneramo started for Sivasspor in their 2-0 away loss to İstanbul BB on Sunday at the Atatürk Olimpiyat Stadıum.

Eneramo played for 46 minutes before he was substituted by Ricardo Pedriel. Eneramo has scored five goals this season in 14 league games.

Joseph Yobo completed another 90 minutes on Sunday for Fenerbahçe as they drew 1-1 with Kayserispor away. Fenerbahçe were handed the point by Dirk Kuyt's 88th minute equaliser. Yobo has played 10 times this season with no yellow or red card to his name.

RUSSIA

Emmanuel Emenike returned to scoring ways on Friday after a goal drought of close to nine weeks though Spartak Moscow lost 4-2 to Zenit.

Emenike scored a consolation for Spartak in the 81st minute after Zenit had gone 4-1 up. The Nigerian striker last scored in the league - two goals against Rostov on September 23 to make it five league goals for the season. Emenike was the highest goal scorer for Spartak last season with 13 goals.

CSKA Moscow lost their top of the table clash 2-0 away to Anzhi Makhachkala on Sunday though Ahmed Musa’s team still share the top spot on the league table with their conquerors with the same 40 points. Musa started and finished the match but could not add to his eight league goals.

SPAIN

Obafemi Martins played his 10th game in La Liga against Deportivo La Coruna at the Estadio de Balaídos on Sunday though he could not add to his five league goals.   

Martins attempted a right footed shot from the centre of the box in the 16th minute that was saved.

He also missed another attempt in the 60th minute as his left footed shot from the left side of the box was too high. Martins had 43 touches of the ball with a 67% pass completion ratio though he won just 20% of his aerial duels.

Nosa Igiebor came on in the 88th minute for Joel Campbell to help shore up the midfield as Real Betis won 3-2 away against Deportivo La Coruna on Sunday. Betis are now in fourth place in La Liga though the Nigerian midfielder has made just seven appearances with just one start.
BELGIUM

Standard Liege on the other hand are pushing up the table with the goals of Nigerian youngster, Imoh Ezekiel.

Ezekiel scored in the 12th minute of their encounter away to Waasland-Beveren to make it eight goals for the season in his 14th league appearance. The 19-year old former 36 Lions striker, who just moved to Belgium in January, scored with an easy tap-in after Michy Batshuayi rounded the goalkeeper and his shot was parried into the path of the Nigerian.

Ezekiel also had a hand in the second goal when he led the counter attack and he passed on the ball which was then passed to William Vainqueur, who scored the second goal in added time.

Oh Leuven drew 1-1 at home against Gent on Saturday and Derick Ogbu started the game. Ogbu was however replaced in the 60th minute by Christian Pouga. The Nigerian has scored four times this season with the memorable hat-trick against Sporting Charleroi on October 6 being his first goals of the season.

Cercle Brugge almost caused an upset on Saturday in Belgium when they took the lead away to Anderlecht through Mushaga Bakenga in the 43rd minute. After Bakenga was replaced by Nigerian striker, Michael Uchebo in the 59th minute, Anderlecht scored two penalty goals in the 79th and 81st minutes to get a 2-1 victory. Uchebo has scored once for Cercle - who prop up the league table with 11 points from 18 matches.
