The Port Harcourt side is trying out a goal minder who came from a Syrian club in preparation for the new seasonDolphins may sign on an Egyptian goalkeeper Awgad Magd after it emerged that he is on trials with the team in Nnewi where they are presently on pre-season camping exercise.
Magd played for a Syrian club, Hathing FC before moving to Dolphins on trials. If the goalkeeper meets up with the standard of the coaching crew led by Stanley Eguma, Magd might become the first Egyptian to play in the Nigeria Premier League.
Dolphins media officer, China Acheru told Goal.com that the goalkeeper joined the team when they started training at the Berverly Hills Hotel training pitch.
"Yes it is true that we have an Egyptian goalkeeper training with the team. He got to Nnewi immediately the team arrived there," said Acheru.
"We have not signed him but the coaching crew are still looking at him to make sure that he meets up with what they want in a goalkeeper.
"When he is through with the trials, we will know whether he will be signed on," Acheru said.
Dolphins finished in 11th position last season with 50 points from 37 matches.
