Wikki Tourists and Kaduna United will contest the final of the Kaduna Pre-Season Tournament after both clubs overcame their semi final opponents on Tuesday.
Wikki Tourists dusted aside NPL 2011/2012 winners, Kano Pillars 2-0 in the first semi final decided at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium on Tuesday to gain an early berth in the grand finale.
Pillars had earlier lost 1-2 to National League side , Dynamic Sports Solution (DSS) on Monday in an inconsequential Group A match but the Baba Mohammed Ganaru tutored side couldn't put their acts together again against Wikki that finished in 10th position and about 10 points below the Kano based team on the log last season.
In an exclusive chat with Goal.com, Pillars' midfielder, Eugene Obi said they have no excuse to point to for their defeat this time praising Wikki players for rising up to the occasion on a day his side experienced a dip in form.
He charged his team mates not to be overly weighed down by the defeat but that it should serve as a wakeup call and the impetus to help them re-examine what they have as against what they thought they had as the 2012/2013 season draws nearer.
"We lost to Wikki and we don't have any excuse for this loss at all. Wikki were better on the day and deserved what they got-victory.
"We shall go back to the drawing board and re-appraise what was responsible for the loss because we played with our best legs and deserve not to lose at all," Obi told Goal.com.
In the second semi final, home team Kaduna United humbled surprise package Dynamic Sports Solution (DSS) 1-0 courtesy of an 85th minute strike from Ibrahim Musa.
Kaduna United's media officer Abdulrahman Tonga told Goal.com that his team would be gunning for the title and so would make it a double victory over Wikki having beaten same side 2-0 on Monday in a group tie.
Both third and final matches would be played at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Zaria. Kano Pillars will try to redeem their image when they slug it out with DSS that defeated them on Monday in the losers final by 2pm before the final between the two NPL sides.
