DSS upset Kano Pillars 2-1 in Kaduna Pre-Season tournament
The National League side outclassed NPL reigning champions to qualify for Tuesday's semi final where they will square up with Kaduna United
Dynamic Sport Solution (DSS) caused a major upset on Monday evening at the ongoing Kaduna Pre-Season Tournament after defeating NPL champions, Kano Pillars 2-1 to book a spot in the semi-final.
DSS had only garnered a point from the first two matches in the tourney against Ranchers (1-1) and lost to Bakoji (0-1) but the Kaduna based team collected all points against the more heralded Pillars to force their way into the semi final where they are scheduled to play Kaduna United on Tuesday by 4pm at the Kaduna Township Stadium.
Speaking with Goal.com after the match, Pillars' midfielder, Eugene Obi said the NPL champions played the encounter with an understrength side having picked a semi-final berth before the last group game.
He warned Pillars detractors not to read unnecessary meaning into the loss while promising that the team would bounce back in style in the semi final with a big win against Wikki Tourists.
"We lost but you should have come to see the players we lined out against DSS after we have the semi final ticket at hand already. We paid for our inability to play with our full team.
"We are going to supply answers to the posers from our enemies when we play against Wikki in the semi final. Pillars are still a force anytime and any day," Obi told Goal.com
Kaduna United had earlier emerged group winners to dodge a tie with Pillars till at least final after they defeated Wikki Tourists 2-0.
Despite the loss, Wikki will play in the last 4 against Pillars on Tuesday at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium by 2pm.
On his part the head coach of Wikki, Yakubu Maidajil informed Goal.com that the pre season tournament has offered him and his technical crew the opportunity to assess the players they hope to use during the 2012/2013 league season and he thanked the organisers for their ingenuity at coming forth with such well organised event.
He assured that Wikki would surprise their semi final rivals, Pillars on Tuesday as they have set their sights on Wednesday's final match of the tourney.
