Schalke forward Chinedu Obasi has shaken off his injury worries and has returned to playing for his club. The 26 year-old has played in the Bundesliga against Dusseldorf and Wolfsburg.
Obasi is hoping to feature for Schalke in their final game in the Uefa Champions League.
“I am very happy to be back playing football once again and hope to fight for my place in the team,” Obasi said.
Schalke boast of some fantastic players going forward like Jefferson Farfan and Klaas Jan Huntelaar. Obasi says he sees them as a motivation to want to do well and really looks forward to competing with these players for a shirt in the first team.
When asked if he hopes to get a call up by Nigeria coach Stephen Keshi to fight for a place on the squad to the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations, the player said he is absolutely hopeful and would really be happy if given a call up by the Super Eagles trainer.
Edu has scored one goal for Schalke since moving from Hoffenheim where he was a very key member. He has been hampered by one injury after the other.
