Kano Pillars coach, Baba Ganaru has said that the team is planning to go on playing tours of Ghana and South Africa to prepare the team for the coming season where they will also play in the Caf Champions League.
Ganaru who led Pillars to win the NPL trophy last season, told Goal.com that officials of the club are serious about the trip because they want to make up for the late start of the Nigeria Premier League.
"We cannot begin to wait for the League to start before we put the players in good shape. If we continue to wait for the League to start, we are not going to do anything," Ganaru said.
"That is why we have decided that apart from the friendly matches we are going to play in Nigeria, we will also play games in Ghana and South Africa.
"All these will put the boys in competitive mood even if the League will not start and when due. I am very sure that the boys will use the opprotunity to learn some few tricks in the game.
"But I must confess that we will be ready for the Caf Champions League when it start next year. We don't want to take chances because nobody will believe us that the late kick off of the League affected us.
"Right now we are in Kaduna where we are taking part in a pre-season tournament and it will also help in knocking the playerrs into shape.
"We are almost through with recruitment of players and we are almost set for the new season," Ganaru said.
