The player has decided to team up with the Port Harcourt side for next season in order to play under Austin Eguavoen
He told Goal.com from the camp of the team in Calabar that he joined Sharks because the conditions are right to play for an ambitious team.
"When Sharks approached me, I did not hesitate to sign because they are very ambitious to win trophies next season," Abutu said.
"They have reorganised the team and everyone is looking forward to an exciting time when the league starts.
"I am also playing under a top coach in Augustine Eguavoen. I want to learn from him and I know that my game will improve under Eguavoen.
"I am at home in Port-Harcourt having played in the city before. So with Sharks, I want to do my best and help the team win trophies," he said.
Sharks finished in the seventh position last season with 52 points.
