The organisers of the tournament to test the readiness of clubs for the coming season have shifted the commencement owing to various reasons
An impeccable source privy to the information said that two reasons accounted for the decision to shift the tourney to a later date.
The source said that top most on the reason for the shift is the latest postponement of the start of the Nigeria Premier League owing to shift of the congress where a new date would have been picked for the kick off of the 2012/2013 season.
The source also gave the other reason as commencement of the 18th National Sports Festival (NSF) billed for Lagos and slated to kick off on the 27th November this year.
The reliable source hinted that the tournament may serve as a distraction to the preparation of the host state hence the decision to convey a re-arranged date to the participating clubs.
Top on the bills of clubs expected to grace the competition include now reigning Nigeria Premier League champions, Kano Pillars with 5 other NPL clubs and a National League side in attendance.
Others are Enyimba, Kwara United, Kaduna United, Gombe United, Lobi Stars and Ranchers Bees. It is aimed at helping the clubs to further prepare adequately for the commencement of the 2012/2013 league season.
Pillars are the current holders of the NPL having won the title at the expense of Enugu Rangers, Lobi Stars last season.
