Lawrence Akpokona advises Super Eagles coaches to reorganize the defence

Former assistant Super Eagles coach has said that the performance of the team at the African Cup of Nations will depend on how well the defenders play in all matches

Former assistant Super Eagles coach, Lawrence Akpokona has advised the present handlers of the team to reorganize the defence line if they have any hope of dpoing well during the Africa Cup of Nations.

Akpokona who is now the head coach of National League side, Insurance noted that the present defence line will notbe able to cope with the pressures that will come the tournament in South Africa next year.

"I have looked at the entire team and found out that our major problem would be the defence if nothing is done to make sure that they start playing well.

"The performance of the team will greatly depend on how the defenders play in all the matches.

"Stephen Keshi has done well since he started as the head coach, but he must do something about the defence line.
"And if I know him very well, he will surely find a way around the way the defenders have played.

"The attackers and midfielders have done well and the Africa Cup of Nations will be a very tough one and our defenders must be up to the task.

"Football is an unpredictable game and Nigeria must be ready in all the departments of the game.
"I don't exactly what he will do, but he is capable of turning things around so that the defenders will begin to do well so that our team will be in good shape for the tournament.

"We can win the trophy, but all the players must be determined to give their best in all the matches," Akpokona said.
Super Eagles will play in group C alongside Zambia, Ethiopia and Burkina Faso.
