Copa Lagos will be an avenue to teach youths skills of beach soccer - Kalu

The sponsor of the beach soccer tournament has decided to bring young people together during the tournament to get awareness in the game of football
Beach soccer in Nigeria will witness a turn around in December as one of the sponsors, First City Monument Bank has promised to provide the enabling enironment for the kids clinic during the competition.

Nigeria, Argentina, Lebanon and Portugal will participate in the second edition of the Copa Lagos from December 14-16.

According to the Group Head, Corporate Communication, Ikechukwu Kalu, the bank has decided to bring youths together so that they will begin to learn how to play the game from an early age.

"We want to set the tone for young boys from an early age to begin to do their bit by coming in contact with the game.

"This is part of the Copa Lagos which will see a lot of people come to watch good beach soccer played under a good atmosphere.

"The kids clinic platfform is for catching them young. We want the youths to develop and get the awareness of becoming great footballers.

"In the next three years, these boys would have matured and would be ready to start playing the game on a small scale while still in school.

"Our ambition is to create the environment which we have decided to do during Copa Lagos.

"Coaches are expected to come and drill the boys and show them the basics of the game which will further guide them towards becoming better footballers in the nearest future," Kalu said.
