The Nigeria Football Federation has disbanded the Super Falcons following the not too impressive performance at the recently concluded African Women's Championship in Equatorial Guinea where the team placed fourth.
The Super Falcons entered the competition as defending champions but lost to South Africa in the semi-finals and also failed to beat Cameroon in the third placed game.
NFF noted that there is no need keeping the team after they failed to retain the AWC trophy in Equatorial Guinea. They also lamented the poor showing of the team after they agve them every neccessary support before the competition.
They however promised to reconstitute the team in no distant time. Coach Kadiri Ikhana resigned immediately the team returned from the competition and the football body will now begin to search for a new handler.
