thumbnail Hello,

The Nigeria Football Federation will in the coming hours decide the fate of the Super Falcons' boss after an unimpressive showing at the just concluded African Women's Championship

Officials of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) will later today meet to decide the fate of Super Falcons' head coach, Kadiri Ikhana after the team's disastrous campaign at the just concluded 8th African Women's Championship won by hosts Equatorial Guinea.

The NFF's Assistant Director (Media), Demola Olajire in a chat with Goal.com said the Football House was not pleased with the 4th placed finish of the country's senior women's national team in Equatorial Guinea and so would meet later in the day to discuss the way forward for women's football and to also seal the fate of the embattled Ikhana.

"We are not happy at the fourth placed finish and definitely a statement will be made today on the true picture of team and the fate of the technical crew. "We have never had it this bad in the history of the AWC and something drastic must be done to arrest the situation before it gets out of hand,"

Olajire explained to Goal.com But another source has however confirmed that the NFF had already talked about replacing the former Kwara United handler and would only sit to seal the dismissal of the coach over what the source termed as the failure of Ikhana to meet up with the target enshrined in his contract among other behind the scene issues.

Falcons came fourth at the end of the competition won by the hosts, Equatorial Guinea, after Nigeria was humbled 0-1 by more determined Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon in the third place match on Sunday in Malabo.

It was the first time the nation would attend the AWC without getting any medal and the closest to this was in 2008 in the same West African land when Falcons were placed third after a shoot out victory over Tunisia.

Nigeria is the most successful African country in the history of the AWC with 6 titles, including the first five editions and the 2010 campaign in South Africa.
