The Nigeria beach soccer team’s captain is of the view that they have been well armed for the second edition of Copa LagosThe Beach Soccer national team came back into the country on Monday after participating in an eight-nation invitational tournament in Dubai. The team came fourth after losing to the hosts, UAE 7-6.
The captain of the side, Isiaka Olawale told Goal.com that the lessons they were taught especially by world champions Russia, would be used against their opponents during the next Copa Lagos, which kicks off on December 14, at the Eko Atlantic City.
“The experience from Dubai is good for us and the team, Olawale told Goal.com. “We learnt so much and that will help us as we get prepared for Copa Lagos.
“When we regroup for training on November 20, the experiences in Dubai will form how we are going to get ready for our opponents.
“Our match against Russia was an eye-opener on what we should be doing – their defending was so tight that we wondered how we scored the three goals that we scored against them,” he added.
Olawale captained the team to the Copa Lagos crown in the last edition with a 9-4 victory over Brazil in the final.
The Sand Eagles as they are known are the defending champions and will go up against Portugal, Argentina and Lebanon this year.
