New dad Victor Moses among 19 players sweating it for shirts in Calabar ahead of Liberia clash

The Super Eagles camp in Calabar witnessed the full complement of players invited for the crucial Nations Cup qualifier in Tuesday's training

The Super Eagles’ Tuesday morning training witnessed almost a full complement of players invited for the tie except Mikel Obi, who had visa issues and two others. Though the expected players are due to arrive the camp latest by Tuesday evening.

The training programme has been a relaxed one but will gradually toughen up on Wednesday when the team will start training twice daily for the Saturday encounter with the Lone Star of Liberia.

Coach Stephen Keshi has tried to cultivate a relaxed atmosphere in camp added to this when he surprised Chelsea’s new recruit, Victor Moses with a question about his new born baby.

Coach Keshi asked Moses if the baby bore a resemblance to either the Nigerian winger or to the mother. “Does the boy look like you or like the Mother,” Keshi asked.

“Coach, he looked pretty much like me,” Moses replied with the other players bursting into raucous laughter at the exchange.

The team which trained at the UJ Esuene Stadium in Calabar had Austin Ejide, Vincent Enyeama, Nosa Igiebor, Ikechukwu Uche, Elderson Echejile, Ahmed Musa, Obiora Nwankwo, Efe Ambrose, Brown Ideye, Ogenyi Onazi, Joel Obi and Moses, joined by the seven retained home-based players.

The Eagles face Liberia on Saturday at 4pm, needing at least a scoreless draw to qualify for the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations Cup that is scheduled to start in South Africa on January 19, 2013.
