The Akure Gunners' coach has called on Caf to appoint an arbiter that will be just with his calls in the return leg tie in Cairo
Head coach of Caf Champions League side, Sunshine Stars, Gbenga Ogunbote has appealed for fair officiating ahead of the second leg of the semi final against Egyptian's Al Ahly in Cairo.
Sunshine recovered from two goals down to record a 3-3 draw in the first leg played at the Dipo Dina Stadium, Ijebu Ode and Ogunbote in a chat with Goal.com said if the Akure Gunners are given a level playing ground just like it was in Ijebu Ode they are sure of advancing to the final.
He reckoned they have a huge task on their hands but stressed it was not an impossible assignment hence all hands must be on deck to ensure that the team does not get further distracted ahead of the return leg.
“If we get the kind of officiating that we had here in Cairo, we will get to final. The referee in the first leg game did very well. I am not surprised because it is the semi finals of the Caf Chanmpions and he must be up and doing.
“I am praying that we have the same type of referee in the second leg game in Cairo. That will open the game and make the best side to win.
“I know that the match officials will be up and doing and they will give a good image to the competition,” Ogunbote said.
